[After Murynal's defeat of Ponce, the party was taken to a dinner hall with vast numbers of NPCs and all manner of entertainment.] [It was real... Moving on, you've been given a set of three room with that meet in state room.] [One of the three rooms is much bigger, probably ambassadorial quarters.] [This particular arrangement was arrived at after Murynal repeatedly turned down offers of sumptuous lodging in the captains quarters. Which apparently take up at least two decks.] [The central room has a meeting table, a window looking out into space, and a few species of pleasantly aromatic plants.] (Yeah. Wouldn't you?) (*Hisses* Yes.) (Remind me again? Why haven't we demaled him yet?) (I'm not sure.) (He's captain.) [There's a few frames with rotating pictures on the wall. Currently showing scenes of generic fire planet #5] (... So?) (Vast security staff) [Start] (Oh, that's right.) (So I don't want to fight the entire security staff, do you?) (Nah, there are better ways to die...It's tempting though.) [Oh and Denal's currently sulking in the container you've been carrying around her central core in.] (What time of day, approximately, is it?) [About two of your dragon star hours before you'd want to go to sleep.] (The lights slowly dim, because they don't sense any motion in the room) (So... It's, like, morning? :P) (2000 hours, and the ships on a 26 hour clock.) * Murynal is lounging. She's wearing a different set of clothes, probably because she convinced the crew (or captain, like he'd take much convincing) to whip some up for her; they're not exactly the same style, but still have the light, loose fit she preferred in the originals. She's currently lying on one of the couches in the common room, hair spread in all directions, and not paying attention to much of anything, as she's half asleep. (There. Happy now? >_<) (Yup. :P) * Neisis paces around the main room, stopping only glance over when the pictures change to ones she hasn't seen yet. She's still wearing her body suit, but the armor's been put away. * Thalan yawns, bearing his fangs. He's still in his flight suit, with the typical clothing over it. He's typing on his datapad while his ears twitch every so often at an un-heard noise. [The pictures switch to an ice planet. Brachiosaurus sized walrus like creatures roam the tundra, masters of all they survey.] * Murynal opens one eye and looks at the picture, then closes it. The temperature and humidity in this room was most likely turned way up, by the by. * Neisis eyes the picture, "There are an amazing number of places in this universe that I have no interest in visiting." * Thalan shrugs. "Too bad we can't visit any of them." Bah. We can just go back to the first plan. Waiting around here for who knows how long... I've been considering it. [Pictures switch to various views of a gas giant. It's atmosphere is a mix of blues and reds.] This is only our first day here. You can't expect them to finish paperwork in one day. * Neisis throws herself into a char, squirms for a bit and then stands up again. (chair) (We are the most impatient group of space travelers ever.) (Well, one of us is convinced she doesn't have time to waste :P) (That doesn't make you more patient. >.>) * Thalan darts his eyes around the room, then goes back to poking at his datapad. * Neisis goes back to walking in circles. * Thalan 's tail twitches. * Murynal opens her eyes and sits up, her hair in disarray. "Fine. Do you want to walk around the ship until you find something to do?" * Thalan grins. "Wow, figured out I was bored so quickly?" * Murynal doesn't grin back. "We're all bored quickly." * Neisis nods. * Denal is still sulking in her backpack. Apparently she gets bored quicker than you lot do. (No, she's just stuck in a backpack, and we're not.) * Neisis turns to the electronic brain in the corner, "Hmm, they've got a lot of little ships around here right? Maybe we can go looking for your next one." * Thalan types on his pad: * Murynal follows this by standing and slipping on her sandals. She walks around, looking for a brush. "It's not like we've arranged to purchase one just yet." (The type was sent to Denal) Something fast and easily available. * Thalan takes a few quick pokes at his pad, flipping through the general databases they probably have. (I know. ;P) * Murynal finds one! And starts fixing her hair. * Neisis walks over to Thalan and tries to look over his shoulder. [There's a lot of ships out there. The Hyperion has a good selection of basic shuttle craft and some special purpose crafts.] * Thalan doesn't mind so much. Is Neisis taller than him? Still nice to know what they've got. (Uh...lessee I based this off the first Neisis...which would put her at five-seven or so) [Aside from those, there's the ships of visiting dignitaries, and a bay dedicated to ships that fell through wormholes or were compounded from adversaries, pirates, and such ilk. (Yeah, she's a good five inches to a half-foot taller than Thal.) * Thalan points at a variety of them. Do they have specifications listed (suggested max speed, engine size, etc?)? (Give me a computer (networks) roll.) * Murynal has a seat on the couch again, this time cross-legged. (Yeah, by 4.) [The shuttle craft aren't really for making long trips at great speed. There are a few faster courier ships, which don't have the capacity to handle atmospheric flight.] [Also some fighters, fairly fast and maneuverable 1/2 person space fighters, and fighter/bombers for 2-4. The latter are capable of atmospheric flight.] [Those craft need to accompany a ship capable of hyperflight though.] [The dignitaries crafts don't have specs on main system but..] * Murynal watches, probably with curiosity. * Thalan frowns at the shuttlecraft, looks very interested in the fighters and bombers, but we'll see what he can find out about the dignitaries' crafts. [You're able to find information on the wider nets. They've likely been customized, but there are a half dozen capable of flight. A few of those require a larger crew, but the rest apparently can be managed by three, but some have still capacity for more.] [Compounds its harder to tell, they seem to have been heavily modified or based on craft that don't show up on the info networks. Good number of them would appear to be combat capable and are of a size that implies hyperflight capability, as they don't look like fighters or shuttles.] [As for the ships that jumped in, no way of knowing.] [End of data] * Thalan scans over the data. "Looks like the thing we'd want most would be some of this compounded stuff. Combat capable, maneuverability, and hyperflight capability, but no way of knowing what we really get until we take them for a test-flight. Hmmm... Maybe they have a X-I class Interceptor from The Quismett, but that might be asking too much." * Neisis blinks and nods, most of the data having gone right over her head. [It is indeed, he doesn't recognize one in the pictures he can load up.] * Murynal tilts her head left and right, cracking her neck slightly. "Are there any decent ones nobody's likely to use?" Uuuhh. * Thalan raises an eyebrow. "Do they commonly use impounded vehicles where you come from?" * Murynal raises an eyebrow back. "Is that what you're looking at? You didn't say." I suppose who ever had them taken away would want them back eventually. Well, if nobody's using one, we could probably get it for a relatively reasonable price. And they wouldn't need to keep it. Yup. Especially if the former owner isn't here anymore. * Murynal grins. "Exactly." * Thalan grins too. True...true. So, are we finally going to get me, I mean us, a ship? How about we take a look at these ships. There should at least be someone around there who could tell us who to talk to about getting one. * Murynal hums. "And maybe a fighter, too." She gets to her feet again and stretches. More energetic already! * Thalan types on the pad. * Neisis nods, "Sounds like a good plan to me. Where are they?" * Thalan pulls up the map on his datapad. Is it listed? [The impound and jumped ship bays are on the other side of the ship, several decks down. But one of the elevators could take you right there.] * Murynal idly grabs a water bottle, takes a drink, and hooks it onto her belt. (Murynal prolly stays sane then, or at least that's what she wants you to think!) * Thalan nods. "Let's get going then." * Thalan heads out... TO THE ELEVATOR! * Murynal heads out as well! * Neisis grabs the computer and follows the other two ...somewhere they haven't bothered to tell her yet, but is probably where the ships are. [There's one fairly close to your apartment, that actually arrives quickly.] Destination? (Well, Thalan? ;P) * Turbo lift (that's what they're called, took me long enough) starts moving. "I'll take you to turbo lift maintenance, they're a bunch of fun guys and gals, well worth visiting." ...Uhm, I don't think that's where we were going. * Murynal rolls her eyes, as Thalan seems to have fallen asleep. "Wherever it is you store the ships. Ship bay, or do you have a separate section for those not in use? They're what we're interested in." * Thalan blinks. This is a bit odd for him. "The ship compounds." [The lift is a fairly sterile off white rectangle, more than tall enough to suit you.] [The little lights going by on one panel stop and then move in the other direction.] If you like, but that area’s mostly deserted. Not as much fun as the guys in elevator maintenance. Tonight's low gravity night, bring a date! * Thalan hisses softly and mumbles something. After you drop us off, why don't you go spend some time there? [The lights on the panel then shift, going right to left.] * Neisis nods, "Sounds like you'd have a lot of fun." This lift unit is currently in perfect condition and has no need for maintenance. Ahh, that's too bad. [The lights on the panel start doing a diagonal, you seem to be moving down and to the left. * Murynal continues, with a perfectly straight face, "We could bust you up so you could have some." * Turbo lift stays quiet at that. * Murynal looks at the others and sighs melodramatically. "Try to do a good deed..." Tell me about it. * The lights switch to a spiral pattern. Counterclockwise for the record. * Neisis shrugs, "We could just send it there when we get out." * Murynal snickers. * Thalan chuckles. [Doors open!] There's two humanoids waiting outside, one's wearing what looks to be an upside down fishbowl, filled with a mostly clear pink tinted liquid. Impound bay. Thank you. Go to turbo lift maintenance after we leave. And have fun. * Murynal steps off. * Thalan glances about warily and walks out. * Neisis walks out of the elevator and takes a look around, before focusing on the humanoids. [The two move to get on and hesitate.] "Is this turbolift broken?" * Thalan shrugs. "Maybe." * Murynal grins. * Neisis shakes her head, "Only if you don't want to go to the maintenance bay." "Guess we'll wait for the next one then." "Works for me." [The turbolift doors close and it leaves.] [The door to the impound bay is on the other side of the hallway and clearly labeled. And closed. There's a control panel to the side. * Murynal looks around, then addresses the two others with them. "Who do you suppose we'd have to ask to get a look at the ships in there?" She points. Section chief. He's not back yet from his mission, won't be for a week. So? That's who they're supposed to act. Eh, ask her, ::indicates the one with the fishtank:: she's got the authority. Dang, I wanted to go get lunch. Then let us in and get lunch. It's not like we can just take one. * Thalan nods. Right, let me just make sure the doors are properly locked down. ::She goes over to the panel and starts typing in a few things.:: * Neisis nods. Sure thing. [A turbo lift arrives and the other guy goes to slip on.] Wait up Terk, it'll only take two minutes. But.. alright. * Murynal walks over, waiting for it to open. "And who should we talk to if we want to purchase one?" * Terk spins around on his heals. For the record he's a fairly 'normal' looking humanoid to your eyes, although he's got only three fingers and a thumb on each hand. * Thalan has seen oozes that talk by vibrating their skins and have their bodily organs floating around inside of them. This is par for the course. That'd actually be me. I've been working on inventory and making sure we aren't sitting on any volatile cargo. Well, that's convenient. * Neisis nods, "it is." * Murynal looks back at him. "Really? Okay. Is there any way we could contact you at some point?" Just ask the computer for me, Terk Yalter. * Murynal nods. * Fishtank finishes the encoding and then the door opens. We will. Yeah. * Terk smiles. "I'll look eagerly await your call." [The two then summon a Turbolift again, and head off.] * Murynal steps through the now open shuttle bay door. "I don't understand some people." * Thalan walks in as well to take a look at ships. Mmm, ships. * Neisis follows the other two in and looks around. [There's about a dozen ships varying states of repair. The bay itself is fairly massive, and they're quite spaced.] [As was aforementioned there were six hyperflight capable that have some potential.] * Neisis looks at the closest ship, "So....what does this one have?" * Murynal looks around and walks to the closest ship. Better look, excellent. * Thalan goes to the closest one that was on the readout at having potential, going over the details. [The closest one is a fairly sleek looking dark green craft with a lowered ramp.] [Has a reasonably large mounted cannon on the top, and two side turrets, which are much smaller.] [It has hyperflight, capable of atmospheric flight, but has to maneuver using thrusters, doesn’t have wings. Can turn fairly quickly, but doesn't move that fast at sub-light speed.] * Neisis looks at the guns, "This'd make the pirates a little less worrisome." I like the color. * Murynal starts up the ramp. "What are the weapons capable of, Thalan?" * Thalan is inspecting the engines. He takes a glance around. "It certainly looks nice. Very dependent on the thrusters for atmospheric flight, though." Didn't check. They may not be listed. That's a bad thing? Let's see... Very technical craft, which isn't really a problem, but the fuel economy is. Ahh. * Murynal mmms faintly. * Murynal takes a look inside the ship! She's so nosy. And, of course, it's sleek. No wings means no problem in docking space. * Thalan takes a look inside too. * Neisis follows Thalan in, "I guess the next question is does Denal fit in?" [There's a bridge with a captain's chair and four potential crew seats (although only *needs* a crew of two). The midsection is has a replicator and such, as well as a medical bed, and some science facilities.] That would be. I want to see what other heaps they have here first, though. * Neisis nods. [The engines are directly accessible via a hatch in the ceiling, bit cramped. The back is a split level. Cargo and a bunk facility that can sleep five at a time.] * Murynal looks around, thoughtfully. "All right. Next." She heads out. * Thalan glances around the controls, then heads out to the next one. * Neisis shrugs and follows the others out. [Next is a fighter, looks fairly top of the line, got thrusters letting it rotate fast on any axel in space, with extendable wings for atmospheric flight. Two main cannon and the possibility to carry missiles and mines. Been shot up pretty bad though, would need some work before it'd be remotely space-worthy.] [Unless you want speed holes in the cockpit.] * Murynal looks it over with a practiced eye. "I wouldn't want to spend all my time in this, but we could use one of those." ...I don't want to spend any time in it. * Thalan grins ferraly. "I would be interested, but I'm not sure I'm up to trying to fix it." * Murynal grins at Neisis. "You're not a fighter pilot." She keeps walking. "You should try sometime. It's a lot of fun." It is. Really makes your adrenaline run. Sure, after I learn to fly, and we find one that has slightly fewer holes in it. This one couldn't stand up to what it needed to. Ah, it's a fixer upper. * Thalan moves on to the next one. "Still, the weaponry's gotta pack a serious punch." That's what I'm thinking. You don't fly one of those for the armor. Of course you don't. You either get some shields, or even better, never get hit. [Next is a cargo carrier, capable of hyperflight, but can't actually maneuver, needs to be tractored into dock.] It's too bad whoever had it didn't pay enough attention to the two of you. * Thalan looks over this one with a suspicious eye. "Okay, that's enough of that one." He goes to the next one. * Neisis blinks, "This is a big one." * Murynal snorts. "We don't need big." She keeps going. No maneuverability either. You have shields where you come from, Thalan? * Neisis nods, "Maybe if we put the two together." * Neisis follows Mury to the next one. Yeah. Very useful for when you need to deflect a weak shot. Huh. I wonder if it's common here. I wish Starcasters were common here too. [Next is a saucer.] I have no idea what those are. * Murynal eyes. "Interesting design?" Neither do I. [One of the potentially appealing ones. Top and bottom turrets.] They're basically giant teleportation stones. In my world, FTL travel isn't possible. Instead, they use long-range teleportation, and starcasters were the combination of computers and magic that made it possible. And... You have got to be kidding me. [Seems to have some modified weapons systems that aren't described on the info nets] [Grey colored saucer craft, two levels. Has internal fighter bays (the first had external, but there is a connecting tube to let you get in while in space), and an engine room in the bottom.] [Upper floor has bridge and, separate quarters (captain’s and two doubles), and a science/med lab.] Huh, I don't think that's quite how it worked for the ships I knew. Not possible? Howso? It's common where I'm from, though smaller ships, like fighters, can't fit all the equipment necessary for it. [Accessible by ramp into the engine room.] ... I'm curious now. * Murynal goes in! [Assume all ships are accessible unless other otherwise stated.] (Do we beam in? XD) (Nope. :P) (Awwwww.) (There's a ramp he says) (But tractor beam! Bzzzz.) Yeah, curious is a good word for it. * Thalan goes in cautiously. * Neisis carries the AI in. [The internal bays are nice, they allow for maintenance on the journey, seem to have some equipment for such fixed to the walls.] [Denal appreciates it I'm sure.] [There's a spiral staircase to the upper floor.] * Murynal climbs the staircase and doesn't fall because this isn't an old-style Sierra adventure game. (* Snerk. Those were the hardest puzzles!) (How about crossing the bridge in KQ1. First thing you need to do. Cross the bridge. AAGH I've been eaten by the alligator so many times. x.x) * Neisis eyes the stairs, "Whoever made this one must have been pretty fast...or had a lot of people...it's a long way from one end to the other." (Yeah really, that was nuts. Stupid curved bridge you can't walk across straight) (You can't! The arrow pad wouldn't let you!) [The engine room was fairly nice, allows for easy repairs and access to the systems.] * Thalan is looking around appreciatively. "Despite looking doofy, it's definitely a nice vehicle." It is. I wonder how it handles in the atmosphere. You don't need wings for space flight. * Neisis looks at Thalan, "It said on that list you had right?" [The bridge is nice and modular, with chairs that allow for ergonomic seating. Although damned if you can tell what they were adjusted to seat beforehand.] It's a bit better, but still not very good. Better than what? The green one? [Med/science lab seems to have been stripped for parts, but is roomy and has definite potential.] A winged craft in atmospheres. On the up-side, it can hover. Oh. * Murynal hmms. * Thalan frowns. "Needs to stay parallel, otherwise the stabilizers won't work." If you can get a shield for it, or if it already has one, it might not be such an issue. If we have a fighter, we can use that for real maneuverability. This is true. Next one? The only problems I have with this are... ah, what are the weapons, Thalan? * Thalan takes a look if they're listed. * Murynal checks the quarters, then heads back down. * Thalan heads out and moves on to the next one. [Only the turrets, got something else, but it's not listed on the specs.] * Neisis follows Mury, "So many different kinds." [Doubles are nice enough, particularly if you're using them as singles. [Captain's quarters are locked.] They're good, but not great. * Murynal doesn't break the lock! And goes back down. "Okay, the only real issues I have with this one are the color, but that can be fixed, and the stairs. It'll take too long going up and down them in an emergency, though they're good to have if lift failure happens. Mmm, some unlisted shit too. And I can jump up and down those no problem. You can, but what about us? We're clumsy. Getting a lift installed if we use this would be nice. As well as finding out what the weapons do. * Murynal grins. "Gotta know what I'm shooting at people.” * Neisis grins, "We can blow up more asteroids and find out." [Next ship is a winged fighter, capable of vertical takeoff. Great in the atmosphere, can carry bombs and missiles, but doesn't have the XY and Z rapid turn capacity of the earlier shot up fighter. Better shape though.] * Murynal takes one look at this fighter and keeps going. "Not bad, but I like the first one more." [Patrol shop, dark crimson, two main cannons which are targetable, variable bevy of smaller guns. Pretty fast too. Only trouble is the bridge is visible from the outside, thanks to a fairly massive hole] Less work for this one though. It's still decent. Hmmm... (Does it look really good?) Decent, yeah. And less work, but if we're going to use the other for a while - and we will, if we're stuck here - we might as well go with the best we can. * Neisis nods. I'll see if I can get a rundown on the weaponry for those two. We can always upgrade these as well, you know. * Murynal glances this one over and hrms to herself. * Thalan raises an eyebrow. "I'm not ready to completly re-construct a ship's frame... Me neither. * Thalan moves on to the next one. So let's stick with the ones without huge holes in. [Sleek and silver with two winged nacelles. Science/med facilities on the lower deck. On the upper deck there’s a bridge and engine room/ Good for atmospheric flight, rather speedy, cannons mounted on the nacelles, but to shoot something you’re not pointing at you’ll need missiles] [It has the capacity for fighters hanging under the nacelles, fairly easily accessible, still exterior.] * Murynal lights up a little at the fighters and runs for a better look. Hmmm, this one has potential. * Neisis nods, "it looks nice." * Murynal comments flippantly, "The only problem is Neisis might have trouble with the weaponry." She grins and takes a look inside. Yes, but that's what I have you for isn't it? [The lower deck does have fairly good facilities, although not that much privacy in the beddings.] * Thalan grins. "Well, she can learn, can't she? And maybe we can retro a few multi-directional plasma cannons or something." [Engine room is fairly good, most problems should be fixable without going out to the nacelles, bridge has seating for four, no clear captain's chair.] I like this one more than the green one, I think. There's more privacy, at least. Ask Denal which it likes. I agree. And we can just paint this one whatever we want. * Thalan asks Denal via the datapad. I like them both. I want to see the rest too. [She's using a fairly cheery font.] ( YAY a ship!) (Pretty much. :P) * Thalan responds rather cheerily too. Funny, he's more reactive to Denal than to just about any normal person you meet. (Hey, as far as outcasts go, Denal could do with a lot worse than us. ;P) ( I'll be able to SEE again!) (Yup!) * Denal chats chipperly with Thalan for a bit, mostly going over obvious trade offs and things already known about the ships, arguing various advantages. * Murynal waits. Patiently. Well, not that patiently, as she keeps poking around the ship... as she said, they're all easily bored. * Neisis watches Thalan type, "So...?" * Thalan nods. "Let's check out the rest. Denal likes both of them pretty equally." Gotcha. * Neisis grins, "Let's go then." * Murynal heads out again! * Thalan heads out to the next one! [Long and fairly elliptical, with extendable wings for atmospheric flight. Sizable facilities covering the usual range.] * Neisis follows Thalan to the next ship. [Can be managed with three, four or five might get better results.] [Has it’s own shuttle craft, but not good for much but landings or transport to other craft.] [Internal fighter storage. Minimal weaponry but tractor/repulsar beam capable of being used as a weapon. More weapons could be equipped, but it’d require a power systems upgrade as well.] * Murynal looks at it for a long while. "I get the feeling we'd need to hire more crew, or something." * Thalan looks over it briefly, examining it a bit closer. "It's serviceable, but we'd have a problem with that." And the weapons. There's no way a group of jumpers can avoid having people shoot at them, from what I've heard. So this one's out? I think so. * Murynal looks inside anyway. Pretty much. It looks nice, but we don't have the time or money, most likely, to take it. * Thalan takes a gander inside. * Neisis shrugs and carts Denal in. [The various rooms are well equipped. Three single rooms, and one fairly pleasant captain’s quarters. Fair amount of privacy, and all the systems can be easily accessed and repaired.] [The shuttle can transport three people and a *small* amount of cargo.] The interior, on the other hand, is very nice. * Murynal laughs. "Too bad we can't mix and match." * Thalan shows no emotion. "Always is that way." We'll just have to make one of the others this nice on the inside. * Thalan nods and heads out. "Next!" * Murynal heads out, too! [All-purpose fighter. Capable of both atmospheric and space combat, but not optimized for either. Good condition though.] * Neisis walks to the next ship! * Murynal looks this one over and shakes her head. Lots of these little fighters. [Small end destroyer. Two aimable main cannon, six turrets, shield generator.] [Fairly Spartan barracks, but a war/communications room.] [No capacity for fighters] Maybe we can get a pair of them. Mmm... Nice, but not our style. Really not. It looks like something used for the forces. * Neisis nods, "Maybe if we had our own army." And a fleet. * Murynal snorts. "What would we do with a fleet?" Anything we wanted? I have no fuckin' clue, which is why we're not gettin' it. * Murynal laughs again. * Thalan doesn't even bother considering it, and goes on to the next one. [Triangular craft, superb scanners and teleporter. Capacity for a single internally carried fighter, although the workroom is rather cramped, capacity for two exterior fighters. Offensive capacity almost entirely dependent on fighter and missiles.] * Neisis follows Thalan with a grin on her face. Mmmm, it's nice. No weapons, but makes an excellent carrier. It does. But to really get full use, we'd need more than one fighter. Maybe if we can get two? But that would mean getting somebody else to fly one. * Murynal folds her hands behind her back. "Yup. Again, more people." * Thalan shrugs and grins toothily at Neisis. "You need to learn how to fly." [Space only fighter, highly efficient, could even beat the initial model most of the time, pretty shot up but briefly usable.] * Neisis grins back, "It might be a waste of time, but I'll try." [And the rest are fairly unusable. A carrier for fighters, and a few that look like they've taken enough damage that they aren't usable without massive repairs.] * Murynal tilts her head. "Okay, this... this is nice. And my original fighter couldn't fly in the atmosphere, but..." * Thalan glances over at Murynal. "Remind you of something?" * Murynal chuckles. "No. I was just wondering if flying in the atmosphere will be an issue." (You guys are dead. :P) * Murynal heads out. "So, what do you think?" Mmm... Maybe? I'd be more for versatility than no atmospheric travel, though. We're going to need to land eventually. * Murynal nods. * Neisis follows Mury, "Uhm...the round one and that last fighter...and maybe fix the broken fighter if we can afford it?" [Naw, the GM probably threw in the atmospheric options and information just to screw with you.] Yeah. I like the disc-shaped ship, too. The problem with that last fighter is that it's space-only. I'd rather have the first one. * Thalan nods. I just want a ship. I can hook into any of these! [Still happy font] * Thalan snickers. "Denal's excited." (Denal's using ^^ and *_*) (And XD) * Neisis giggles, "And so she should be, all of them are a huge step up from the last one." Okay, well... maybe we should see about prices and funds, and get it one before it tries hooking into one by itself. * Murynal blinks. "Ask Denal if it wants to be called a 'he' or a 'she'." * Thalan types in. "Are you a 'he' or a 'she'?" * Neisis blinks, "I just said she didn't I? I wonder why." (Because the GM was using 'she'.) (But the GM used 'he' last session, so whatever!) (I like to keep you guessing. :P) (It's a computer! There's nothing to guess at! >_<) (Unless we get it a body) * Thalan shrugs. "I'm going with she." Well, strictly speaking, either is a false bit of anthropomorphism, but, due to the inelegant requirements of language, ‘she’ works. Common sucks. You're the one who speaks it. Not me. * Thalan emphasizes that last statement with a subtle body movement from his right arm. And the words *really* didn't match up with the translator. * Neisis points at the translator thing she's wearing, "it's a good thing somebody invented these." So, what'd it say? (Subtle? He just flicked me off EQ-style!) She. * Thalan says that in a correcting tone. * Murynal nods, smiling again. "Okay." She checks the time; how long were they looking at ships? Ahh, I guessed right. * Thalan shrugs. "The names my people have are not gender specific, so it can be confusing sometimes." [About two hours we'll say.] Okay. Want to contact Terk about bargaining for two of those? (How much money do we have, anyway? I forget.) (Don't know, do we?) (Nope) ...Maybe after they pay us? Getting paid is good. (To save time, we'll say captain mentioned you'd have an account on the ship) (Keen. Look it up. ;P) So, if that's the case, let's hope that paperwork went through... * Thalan types a few things into his datapad to access the account. [5.4 megacredits.] * Neisis looks over Thalan’s shoulder again, "How much is a megacredit?" (We'd think that's a lot, but we don't actually know how much that is.) * Murynal shrugs helplessly. * Thalan shrugs. "Where I'm from that's enough to buy maybe 1/4th of a ship. Let's hope they're not as expensive." You use the same currency? Huh. (Murynal's use of the hairbrush in the room cost 2 megacredits. It's worse than the minibar.) (Curses.) (Drat) Okay, let's contact Terk, then. He should be done with lunch. (and the Taa Water? You shoulda known better :P) (Oh no, that's well worth however many megacredits. Trust me. ;P) * Neisis nods. Creds are creds. * Thalan looks up Terk on his datapad. "You want to talk to him?" [Thalan finds the info.] Don't you? You don't want me to talk to him. Trust me. I'm the one who knows the least about ships so... Don't you want us to talk to him, then. Really. Exactly. (Is contact info via a phone or in-person or what?) [Audio via the datapad.] * Thalan hits the 'call' button and throws the pad to Murynal. * Murynal catches it. And for the final culinary delight of this feast, I present... Ah, hello, ready to make a purchase? We're ready to discuss one, but if you're busy, we can wait a while. I may be busy for a while. Tell you what, four megacredits for the hyperflight capable (which includes all the bigger ones). Although the destroyers 4.5, and the Green one is only three. I see. What about the fighters? Just one megacredit for any, no repair work. And I'll throw in fuel for anything you buy if you handle the rest of the transactions via the computer. [A purchase window appears on your datapad, with the options, at the aforementioned prices.] * Murynal says, dryly, "You love us that much, huh? How much would it take for repair work?" Fifty units (like a week I think) and between 200 and 750 credits, depending on the ship. Fighters running towards the bottom end of that scale.] All right. I'll let you get back to your meal. * Murynal looks up once he hangs up (but the purchase window is probably still on) and says, "What do you think?" * Thalan looks around. How difficult do the ones in more shape look to repair? We can afford a fighter, one of the ships - since we don't want the destroyer - and repair work, hopefully with some extra to go around. * Terk serves dessert somewhere. And the purchase window is still up. A week? A week. Not as bad as how long we expected to get to one of the planets earlier, remember. Sounds good. And the hyper-drive will, hopefully, make the travel time much faster. * Murynal nods. * Neisis blinks, "True, I keep forgetting that." [Also you can try repairs yourself if you've got an internal bay, although you may need to buy parts.] So, which one? I still want the first fighter, and repairs don't look like they'll cost too much. I can oversee some of the repairs. I know something about it. * Murynal grins. "Good. I only know basics." * Neisis sighs, "I know even less." You'll learn. There's only three people on this crew. You have to learn. (And by that, I mean I have a rank in mechanics and a high mind score.) (Ha!) * Neisis grins, "I've found I pick things up quickly." * Murynal laughs. "Good! So, answer the question." A good ship and one fighter? Which ship do we want to make our own? I picked out my fighter, and I don't want any of you arguing, since I'll probably be the only one using it. * Thalan laughs. "Who says I can't use it? " * Murynal huffs. "Well, if you're gonna fly the ship, someone has to fly the other ship." I though you were going to make me learn that. You're going to learn everything. Everything! Answer the question already. I said I liked the round one. * Murynal points at the datapad. "And the sooner we do this, the sooner we get out of here." * Thalan shrugs. "The round one's got potential." Round one, then? But... Hmmm. Need to make them fix the stairs... * Neisis looks at Thalan. I'm thinking of the one with the nacelles. What do you think? If we need to shoot something, I can maneuver it easily enough. * Neisis blinks at Thalan, "Then what do I do?" If you can handle it, then sure. I like the facilities in that one, myself, and the docking bay. (You could repeat what the computer says. :P) * Thalan glances over at Neisis. "Maybe you could fire the weaponry?" * Murynal looks back at the datapad. "And there's less unknowns." (Nacelles didn't have a docking bay, they hung under the nacelles, but were easily accessible internally. ) (However that works. ;P) (Just no repairs inflight. :P) (The green one, takes a turn or two to get in, and might be bad on the back. :P) Any complaints? Nope. Silver's fine with me. * Murynal doesn't say, "as long as I get my fighter", but you don't have to be a telepath to know what she means. * Neisis shrugs, "I'm not the one who has to fly it...yet." * Thalan chuckles. "If you want, I could help program Denal to fly it too. I'm sure you two could easily take care of things." * Murynal snickers. "And I'm going to show Neisis just how to pilot a fighter sometime. Having backup never hurts." She starts typing in their order. * Neisis grins at Thalan, "But then you'll be the one with nothing to do." Yeah. Hopefully we can get a couple more fighters if need be. But that's an eventually. We don't even know what we're going to do with ourselves yet. What *are* we doing? We can't just split up, I'm afraid. Something about going to a nice warm planet? * Thalan grins. "Why would I want to split up? * Murynal ends up getting the silver one, the first fighter, and requesting repairs be made so both are in good condition. "Yeah, but what about when we get there?" But a nice warm planet would be very nice... [Order is placed!] (Well, this was a shopping episode. But it had to be done!) * Murynal mmms faintly. "But, unless I miss my guess, none of us would be good at just settling down." She grins. "Set up a base of operations, maybe, and do... something. I used to help with deliveries, back home." So, what about when we get there? I can't exactly blend in, and yeah. We can scare the locals. It'll be fun. I have no problem with that. It'd remind me of old times. * Neisis shrugs, and grins, "I don't have any long term plans. Never thought I'd need them." Delivery service, then? I'm not sure how well the ship's made for it, but we could. * Murynal laughs. "Or troubleshooters. If we can't avoid the problems, why not fix them?" (/me starts writing down futurama plots) * Thalan shrugs. "I can keep it in shape easily enough. It's what I did for a living when I wasn't doing my... other jobs earlier." * Neisis grins, "Sounds like it could be fun." It's pretty boring, a lot of the times. Unless this ship moves faster than the ones I'm used to, anyway. (Don't worry, only every other session will be spent entirely in dull hyperflight. :P) (That means once a year we'll get to do something!) Let's hope it doesn't move that slow then. * Neisis nods. * Murynal nods. And yawns. She types, 'Hope you like the selection' in for Denal and hands the pad back to Thalan before calling up the turbolift. * Thalan sniffs the air. "And speaking of which, maybe we should get some rest." * Thalan takes the pad back and waits for El Turbo De Lifto. (Shouldn't it be El Lifto del Turbo?) (Shut UP!) (But Kevin, it's-) You made a selection, that's all I want it. Yay! * Neisis nods, "Tomorrow should be another day." [End!]
