[So, you were left off in an interns office. Take him to the HQ and you can have icecream and security badges.] [You start outside [Start] So, there's the apocalyptic land or the volcanic land. (You're delivering a part in a weird theme park) (that's why I'm reading the logs, but I haven't caught up yet. o_o) (Oh, right.) Distance is about the same, so just go for whatever you can keep me safest in. * Neisis looks at the others. "I don't know about the rest of you? But I'm not to great at that swimming thing." [Apocalyptic land is slightly deserty and has lots of wrecked buildings, cars, and the like. The design theme seems to be scorched marks.] * Thalan shudders. "Let's stay away from the water, okay?" * Murynal eyes the pair of hydro-phobes. "No swimming. Got it." [Volcanic is all rock with several small peaks and lava flows. Looks navigable though.] (and I totaly misparsed the name of that first place. @_@) 'I'm not sure if I can swim in this gravity.' Water? H2O. Two parts hydrogen, one part oxygen, caused by combustion... You know. Water. (Sorry that was OOC of me due to the distraction of trying to read this and the log of last session to remember who my char is at the same time. ^^;;;;;;) It really mats your fur. (Apocalyptic got parsed as Aquatic ^^;;;) * Intern nods. He then gestures to volcanic land. "Fire." And to Apocalyptic land. "Sand." He then gestures more towards the center. "You can see Ocean land from here, so if you've got vocabulary issue I can see the source of the confusion." Let's get moving. This place is dangerous. ::He eyes the jungle behind you:: * Murynal blinks. "But I like the jungle." Me too. * Neisis glances back. "Unfortunatly that's not the way we need to go any more. Fire's good I guess." * Murynal shrugs. "Fine with me." * Justine nods. 'Right.' * Thalan shrugs. [So, you start through volcanic land. It's rather hot, if you stand still for more than a few seconds you can feel the soles of your shoes warming. And I do hope you have shoes or environmental resistance.] (Justine has wheels.) (Yay boots!) (Then she's fine) (Are sandals okay? Ow.) (Yeah) (Me? Without shoes? What are you, NUTS?) [Not too much local flora or fauna, although there's the occassional fire orchid and miniature giant space salamanders (thankfully a species known for their docility). After a minute of walking you reach a lava stream.] * Justine rolls to a stop. [There is a place to cross, but there are cracks in that rock and lava flows through them. It also doesn't look all that stable. It's theoretically wheel chair accessible. Maybe very theoretically. About 2 meters wide.] * Murynal looks along the stream. She frowns. * Intern stops too. After a few seconds he goes ow and hops around. He then settles into pacing. * Neisis looks at the fire. "I was kinda hoping it'd be solid all the way." I don't trust that walkway. 'Me neither.' 'But I'll give it a try if you think I should.' * Thalan frowns. "Now way is that thing gonna stay up." (If anyone can justify a skill to check the odds, feel free to roll it.) * Neisis nods. "I could probibly jump it, but the rest of you are kinda stuck." It might be safe. Well, at least safer than those damn biker bar reject kangeroos. Biker reject kangaroos? ... Some other group? * Dicesuke has joined #jumpers (ha no!) (cuuuurse you!) (Made by 1.) * Intern nods. "They visit post-apocalyptic land every year. Something about their ancestral home. Bunch of wankers if you ask me." Sounds like an... interesting group. (The biker mice from mars... I may have to hit you at ACen Greg.) (Ah ah ah no.) (Biker mice from Mars?) (That's not the reference at all) (That was a messed up show.) (Hehehehe...) (It was.) (It's not even ringing a bell.) (huh) (Is it Tank Girl?) (Think broader) (Just generally Australia?) (Jah) (Too obvious.) (WTF-mate?) (And I actually made the Mind roll. By 1.) (I msged you) (And Canada's like 'What's goin' on EH?') (I start obvious, it leaves room for subtlty in the details. (And if you need me to /msg you the results again Justine, lemme know.) 'I think it'll get weaker each time someone crosses.' Can anyone jump it? * Murynal looks to Thalan. Well, since you need me alive, I should probably go first. * Neisis blinks at Murynal. "I just said I could, didn't I? My mind isn't going yet." * Thalan asseses it, walking up for a closer look. [The bridge is about five meters long.] (But the stream is two) Yeah, easily. 'It could probably support the weight of my chair if I went first, but that might not leave it stable enough for the rest of you.' (No it's two wide.. errr) Go across first, Justine. (I have a cold.) * Murynal looks to Neisis. "Can you jump across?" (Be forgiving in my misinterpretation of questions please. :P) * Neisis nods at Mury. "Yep, it's not that wide." [Two meter wide bridge, five meter long flow.] (And 10 meter jumping distance from standstill for me. :P) (I've got ten on a running start.) * Intern notes Justine's concern and doesn't try to cross, for now. "I'm not really a jumper." (*snickers at the pun*) (Yes, yes, we all saw that one.) (I'm pretending I didn't) 'Should I cross now?' Justine asks Murynal. (*rimshot*) (^^; It was unintentional. I don't expect anyone to believe me on that. And I would have made it intentionally had I thought of it.) * Murynal nods at Justine. "Go ahead and try. We'll see how steady it is after, but you need to cross." (* Justine dies!) (* Neisis sells her ship!) (* Thalan kills you all!) * Justine starts her chair moving again, and heads it over the rickety bridge, venturing out over the flowing molten lava. [Justine give me a driving roll against body stat. +4 penalty] * Neisis watches Justine go. (Made.) (What's your margin) (Uh, wait. Does Not So Fast or Not So Strong apply?) (Nop) (How about Awkward?) (Hmm.. That does. +3 for awkward) (Ouch. Failed by 2, then.) [Justine crosses the bridge with a good deal of skill, maneuvering on the most stable of the rocks and quickly reacting when an area starts to sink. However, her hand slips once near the end and she has to gun it as one of the rock slabs shakes and then is covered by lava.] (How big was that one?) [Less than a square meter. The bridge still seems safe enough for a non- wheelchair bound humanoid to cross, but I wouldn't look forward to being the humanoid after that.] * Neisis gasps as Justine has her close call. * Thalan doesn't seem to care as much as he should. * Intern gulps. I should probably cross now. * Justine looks determined and focussed during her crossing. Yeah, it's your turn. Good luck . * Murynal waves the intern across. * Intern gingerly walks across. (*intern falls in the lava and dies. Game over.) (He's a red shirt.) (Oh well. No ice cream for us. ;_;) [The intern doesn't show Justine's wisdom in pathfinding. He yipes when hitting a sinking rock and then jumps to the nearest solid looking point. Which is then jarred and starts to flow free. He sprints across the rest of the bridge, leaving what would be better described as stepping stones behind him.] [Three body (jump) rolls to cross if you don't have special jumping abilities. Special movement can potentially be justified.] * Murynal sighs when that happens. * Intern stands over by Justine and wipes his forehead. 'Are you okay?' (Special movement bonuses that is.) (Jumping and 3 special movements good with an acro of 2 with spec in jumping? :P) * Intern nods, but he's fairly pale. He then goes eep and starts hopping around because he stood still to long. * Murynal looks to Neisis and Thalan. "I think it's my turn. Is that okay?" (Yeah... :P) Go ahead. (We're more talking about Mury here.) (Oh, fine. ~_^) (Speed = 10.1 meter jumping distance and a minus two from having the skill) * Neisis nods. "Go for it!" (Uh, how risky is this for Mury?) (I've got a TN of seven!) (Wait, eight.) (You need to hit it three times in a row, though.) (Acrobatics (jumping) helps. And I'll say -2 bonus on those rolls.) (Ten three times!) (As they are stepping stones. Not superhuman leap stones.) (Thank God.) (But superhuman leaps are fun.) (They are!) * Murynal nods. She looks forward, eyeing the stones for a moment, then tries to jump from one to the other without losing a sandal or, y'know, falling in the lava. * Neisis shifts from foot to foot as the heat finaly works it's way though her boots. (Shazam!) (...Huzzah!) (Yow. Nice.) (Two, four, seven.) (RAWK!) (El Lup de rock.) (ROCK ROCK ROCK ROCK ROCK ROCK ROCK ROCK.) (De lup.) (DE LUP.) (Bwahaha!) (ROCK ON! SISTAH!) (*cackles) [Mury makes it across and makes it look easy. In fact only the first stone sinks beneath the lava. Given her lack of emotional display and physical ability you'd think she was just crossing a stream. Except for hydrophobes. They'd probably chose a different analogy.] (Stupid water. Makes you feel all icky.) 'Wow. That was impressive.' (I'm not afraid of the water, I'd just like to get aquanted with it at somepoint when it wouldn't you know, kill me.) Go Murynal! * Intern looks impressed. * Murynal lands on the other side. "I had to cross somehow." * Thalan chuckles and jumps across from his standing position in an almost anime-esque fashion. * Murynal looks over and waves the other two across. * Neisis waves back at Murynal and then jogs away from the lava. Then she turns around and sprints twords it, much much faster than a normal human should be able too. (Flip those, presumably.) (Mury and Thalan, I meant.) (Yeah.) (::nod::) (Shall we roll these or just assume?) Huh, you'd give those kangeroos a run for their money. And then take it from them. Good thing to, rude bastards the lot of them. (You can assume) 'It's almost like you're not even in gravity,' Justine says to Thalan. Really? When are they here? * Neisis takes a small hop to the ege of the lava and then using both legs propells herself across it. * Thalan smiles, showing his teeth. "My kind are natural-borne jumpers." (born) * Neisis grins. "I don't get to do that enough. What's next?" * Murynal points. "We go that way?" (and yes, pun intended. :P) (Murynal pointed back across the lava!) They don't come here. But they do jump good. Not wandering samauri good, but not half bad. ::he nods:: Yup, that way. * Neisis goes that way! "Let's go then." (Into the lava with us!) [You travel for another few minutes. The slowing is go for a bit because you're crossing between two peaks which have a good number of ups and downs. Well, is slow for those of you that aren't crazy leapers or are wheelchair bound. You eventially get to a valley, or perhaps a rift, between two peaks.] (The slowing is go?) (That it is) * Murynal walks along. Walk, walk. If Justine's chair speeds up because of a descent, she speeds up with it! * Thalan walks too! And looks around warrily. Like this is new. * Neisis walks sometimes, and leaps sometimes, but she tries not to get too far ahead or behind the others. * Justine's chair does vary in speed a bit depending on if it's going up or down. 'Who do you think comes to this part of the park? It doesn't seem that exciting, except for the bridge. Just hot.' [Oddly enough, there are lots of puddles of clear bubbling liquid in this valley. Most of the puddles are pretty shallow, walkers can avoid them and Justine can likely drive through with minimal risk.] Maybe people who like hot. Something should live here, I think. (Want me to roll to avoid the puddles?) (Sure. +6 again (including awkward) And there are regular scheduled eruptions. ::He glances at his watch:: Oh shit. (Failed.) * Neisis grins. "It's now isn't it? Which way do we run?" (Driving helps) Which is about right now ? * Murynal looks up and around. (I still failed by 2 if it's against Body.) Naw, just screwing with you. It's actually a joke in the training manual. Force of habit really. [Justine starts driving along, what are the rest of you doing?] * Murynal eyes the intern. "Funny," she says, though she doesn't crack a grin. * Murynal goes along with Justine. 'I thought it was,' Justine says brightly. (/me snickers) * Thalan rolls his eyes and walks along. * Neisis 's iron bar appears out of nowhere as she takes a mock swing at the intern! "Bah!" (You snickering at me?) (Yup. It's a fun character trait.) (Snickering?) (Poor sense of humor) (Yes.) * Intern jumps back a bit as if it was second nature. "Fortunately, the manual also recommends dodging." [And awareness checks please. Sense of choice, just tell me which.] * Neisis puts the bar back wherever she keeps it. "You've got a good manual." (This is against Body or Mind?) (We are aware!) (Sight, made by one.) Keeps the mortality rate with reason. (mind) (By two; just HA.) (Sight, made by 3.) (Um, Sight, sound, or smell. Your pick. By 7.) [Everyone but the intern notices that the puddles of water are starting to flow together with increasing speed. Thalan notices that the ones Justine had driven through are moving the fastest.] * Murynal looks around. "That's not natural, is it?" No? What does the manual say about this? * Intern looks around. "About what?" Hell no. Justine, I suggest you stop rolliing through the puddles. * Murynal points out the puddles. * Neisis points at the moving puddles. 'I'm trying. Should I just stop moving?' (That wasn't sarcasm.) Maybe for the time being. * Justine halts. [And about now no awareness checks are necessary as the liquid begins to form into a blob in front of you.] * Justine draws her pistol. (It's a slime.. good thing Rei isn't here.) * Thalan draws his plasma rifle. "I hate slimes." * Murynal grabs her hilt, flipping it in her hand. * Intern grabs his manual and starts flipping through it. Oh, is this normal? I've never had to fight something like it before. 'Me neither.' Dunno. * Neisis 's claws and bar appear on her forearms. "S'why I asked." (I'll give anyone who can justify a specifies identification skill a roll. Everyone but Thalan gets a +4) (Specifies?) (I can't make this on a crit!) (Well, I got no clue. ;P) (Tell me the skill you're using. :P) (Uh, I doubt this thing exists in Justine's universe, so I won't roll.) (WOO NO!) (I duno, biology, whatever.) (High five for blobless universes!) (Whups, missed it!) [And the blob forms into a humanoid figure. You can get some idea of facial features, although still transparent so it's tricky. Although the definate expression is annoyed.] [Initiative rolls please.] (And we'll still be using the whole things happen at once system to save time.) Is it intelligent? (Um, aren't normal init rolls 1d6?) (normaly yes, I've got a couple of NDs extra Kensai tricks) Well, from a certain point of view, most of our customers are unintelligent. ::He keeps flipping:: [Mury Neisis Liquid-thing Justine Thalan] And hostile, apparently. All of them are hostile. 'You get a lot weirder life forms when they evolve naturally. I don't think anyone back home managed to engineer liquid people.' * Neisis goes for the very first stratagy ever. The scream and the leap. She leads with her claw and then follows it up with the bar. (Chanbara) (Neisis is a Kzinti!) (made by seven and four) What's the big idea interrupting by spa session? ::He flings an arm out at Thalan:: And calling me a damn slime! ::The arm expands into a tentacle that tries to wrap around him:: (And he'll need a dodge after he makes his attack.) (Woo Go attacking the tourists!) (Didn't make that one. >_<) Well how was I supposed to know? (Mury and Justine) * Murynal doesn't even bother talking. As the tentacle shoots for Thalan, she runs over, blade forming from her hilt, and attempts to slice through it. 'Permission to open fire?' Granted dammit! (What've I got to roll for that?) * Justine takes a shot at the liquid thing with her pistol. * Neisis is a bit occupied by screaming but she'd say go for it if she could. * Thalan fires in retaliation at the slime-thing. (Uh normal attack roll will be fine.) (Someone's fucked.) (Okay, I made that!) (...Mury wins) * Intern finds a safe place to cower. (Like where?) (Behind the LAVA?) [Make that comparatively safe.] (In the break room.) (Across the stream of LAVA?) [The creature flows like.. well.. water really. And as Thalan discovers when the tendril wraps around him it feels just like water too.] (Dos it actually hurt?) ( *Neisis hangs into the air untill she finds out if she hits or not... somewhere in the background a some lady is singing about green birds. o/~) [This flowing and quick moving lets it avoid most of the blows, Thalan manages to land one just as he's grappled and Justine manages to perfectly anticipate how the critter will dodge Neisis's second blow.] (Give me damage in message please.) (Um, what'd I do?) (Anyone know what the damage of an energy pistol is? It's a standard weapon in the book.) [Mury swings through the tendril. Unfortunately it just parts as her blade passes and then reforms.] (Um... Greg?) (Crit hits don't allow defense rolls. ^^;) (Wasn't that Justines?) (There isn't one. ^^; Is it major or minor?) (Err...) (In the BESM book it's called a Blaster Pistol.) (No, Mury crit succeeded. I just made by 5.) (Retcon. Sorry. I got the roll wrong.) (Oh! Ten.) (I don't have the book handy, okay?) (Yeah, I know. Neither do I. :P) (I just figured that's what you ment.) (Okay. Sure.) (No offense man. I was just trying to tell Ard what you were looking for. c.c;) (No problem.) [Rewrite: Dodges Neisis's two blows. And Justine didn't anticipate as well as she thought. However, it does indeed split when Mury hits the tendril. However it stays split and Thalan those just takes some squeezing damage (13) and is all wet, but not grappled.] (Can you do a rewrite that's in slightly more coherent prose?) [Neisis's two blows are dodge. Justine's well aimed shot is also dodged.] * Neisis doesn't make a very clean landing due to the total lack of her target being there to absorb the impact. [Mury splits the tendril attacking Thalan. Thalan takes 13 damage from being squeezed and is wet. However he is no longer being grappled.] (Pain.) (Hey, I have an extra attack!) (... Can I use it?) (Whoo! Gofor ti!) (Sure) (There's nothing around Thalan anymore, yes?) (Correct) * Murynal slices through, then turns, rushing for and by the creature, attempting to put her sword through its side. (Make.) [Mury lands another blow, although this one doesn't make as big of a splash.] How were you to know? Let me guess, you thought 'well we're in a volcano land there's no way that could be a water elemental so we'll just drive through it.' ::The voice drips sarcasm:: [Next round!] * Water elemental reforms and sends a bolt of water at each of you. Except Mury. She gets two. (And those are all good attack rolls) (Damn you Dicesuke.) (Ha! Made exactly!) (With ranged isn't it?) (Yeah) (Missed by two >.<) (And go ahead and take your actions) (Wait, is this ranged? Oh.) (actualy wait... what round is it attacking in?) (The new round) (Wow, way to miss by one!) (So I do make it, because I act first and my penalty doesn't apply) (Made.) (Okay) (This is why things kinda need to happen in order.) (Bah) (And eveyone take your actions) * Justine's arm starts to droop a bit from the strain of holding up her pistol in a firing position, but she steadies her hand long enough to take a shot. * Thalan takes another shot! (Made by 7.) (By 1.)* Neisis points her claw at the elemental. "Exactly, now leave. Before we kill you for being a complete idiot about it!" (Fear is a Gift.) (and missed by 4... I hate dicey) * Murynal turns and runs for the creature, slicing at it twice. "I never met a water elemental before," she comments oddly. Let alone one that was so vocal. (One by zero and the other by, uh, more than zero!) [Mury takes two hits of scalding water (17 each); Thalan also gets hit once and is more wet and more hurt (17). Justine and Neisis keep out of the way.] * Thalan isn't looking too hot. In fact, he's looking downright hurt. (No, I don't have a lot of hit points. What makes you ask?) (Ouch!) (Medic! Cleric! Whatever!) (That's me!) (Ow!) (Please? :P) (Dude, I'm so healing myself first.) [The creature dodges Justine's shot, but that distracted it and allowed Thalan to hit. Similarly one of Mury's blows successfully acted as a feint for another.] * Murynal is splashed with water, and it burns. Does it ever. She doesn't scream, though, and if anything loses whatever expression she had. (Hey Greg? Letting me buy Resta at some point might be wise) [Neisis doesn't hit with anything, but she sounds really intimidating. And the water creature start runs away while whining "Bigot."] [Start, if people feel like taking potshots.] [Otherwise out of combat.] * Murynal doesn't chase. She just stands and watches it go. And, uh, is scaleded by the water. 'Are you okay?' * Neisis snorts and her weapons vanish. "... Okay then... no more walking in the puddles." * Intern emerges from behind a rock. Ouch. Man, that hurts. And people wonder why I don't like water. * Neisis looks around at the others. "Ack, what happend to you guys?" * Justine's hand holding the pistol drops like a rock into her lap, and she slumps back into her chair, not that she'd been sitting up much anyway. Guess. * Murynal blinks, then looks down. "Oh. No." * Thalan is a wet mad looking kitty. [And the water elemental successfully slinks away. Once it's out of sight a cute little cloud forms a meter above Neisis's head and rains on her.] * Murynal winks her sword away, then sheathes it. She walks over to Thalan and holds out her hand to him. 'Sorry. That was my fault.' It's okay. * Neisis looks up. "Oh come on! That is so not fair!" [The cloud doesn't relent.] * Neisis tries to run out from under it. (Hehe.) [So long as Neisis is moving the cloud lags a bit behind, but if she lays off the speed it catchs up quickly enough.] * Thalan blins at Murynal's hand. "What?" [It moves fairly fast itself. You can tell by the tiny little clouds it leaves right when it departs.] * Murynal sighs and just takes Thalan's hand. Her own starts to glow that faint blue, and Thalan's burns begin to go away. Plus, it feels really good. Like a warm, comfy blanket. * Justine, with a little grunt of effort, dumps the pistol back in its holster. Seems more like a firery temperment. ::The clouds scoots towards him for a moment:: Err.. not that there's anything wrong with that. It shows a certain sophistication to rise above elemental stereotypes. ::The cloud resumes harrassing Neisis:: (And this isn't scalding water. Just normal rain. Not quite a full down pour either.) * Thalan instinctively pulls his hand away slightly when Murynal grabs for it. * Neisis stops running away and walks back to the others. "I hope this stops when we get out of here." It's okay. Well, we're almost there. And there's almost no chance there'd be a random... ::he pauses and gives a worried look to Neisis:: Okay, I'm not supposed to tell you this, but there's always a mini eruption when people leave. Makes it more dramatic. It's carefully timed though, so don't dally and you'll be fine. * Murynal nods to the intern. * Neisis glares in the general direction of the water element left in. "Fine, let's go then." * Thalan pulls his hand away when Murynal's done, quickly changing his gloves. "Let's. And thanks Murynal." Sure. * Neisis turns to go on and then stops. "Uhm... what happens if there's more than one person in here and the other leaves?" * Murynal walks after, one hand against her opposite arm. It's glowing again. Oh... so that's why that guy had third degree burns. * Murynal rolls her eyes. We're going now. 'This place seems very poorly designed.' [And so you walk and wheel some more. And just as the exit to the area is in sight you hear a rumbling from behind you.] It's dangertainment. It's stupid. * Intern makes a break for it at this point. He actually tramples a few fire orchids on the way and goes "yeep" as they're not called fire Orchids because of their orange color.] (-]) That too. I think we run now. Yes? Yup. * Murynal runs! * Thalan runs! * Justine rolls at about the same pace she's been going. * Murynal stops, looks back, runs *back*, and runs while pushing Justine. Because someone's got to. * Neisis starts to run and then doubles back to try and push Justine. "Hi, you're going to need a hand. Need to faster now!" (Oh, there we go.) (Ha!) (Nix mine!) (Hee.) (You're closer.) (We all do love Justine.) (I'm faster too. ^^;) (That too!) (I'm a weakling!) (Justine is weaker. :P ) (Me too.) (Okay, everybody but justine give a roll. -4 for speed, +2 for pushing justine, -2 for any appropriate special movements) (We're all weaklings but Neisis.) (...) (That's not good.) (Err, and feel free to apply sports (sprinting).) (So. Now that I died in Jumpers somehow...) (No DR?) (Can I give her a DR?) (She can have mine if you'll let her) (Lightfooted apply?) (Naw. I don't think I have a sharing policy in jumpers) (And yes, lightfooted helps.) (Made by two, three if I can get a general acro added.) (-2) (Balance, Cat-like?) (That doesn't) (I don't have DR 'cause Ard didn't love me enough. ;_; Oh, shut up, me.) (Made it by 5, 7 if acro is included.) ( I don't have DR because that's fate and it can only be changed by my actions. Not luck.) [And there's a plume of lava behind you and erupting from the sides and rapidly flowing down towards you. But at just the right pace so long as you don't stumble horirbly by hideous cosmic joke you'll be just fine.] [So, everyone but Murynal is just fine.] (Oh dear.) (Thinks for a moment) (Time to dump Justine through the door and go back for Mury?) (Actually, did Justine even need help, if it's that slow?) (Well, she can't run, so yeah, potentially.) (Okay, so what's my fate of doom?) [Murynal takes a step near the edge of one of the lava flows and the ground collapses underneath her and she doesn't react in time. She's left on a small and rapidly sinking outcropping in a pond of lava.] (Outcropping, so it's still connected to the edge?) [The flow is still active, so the radius of the pond is like fifteen meters at the closest point.] (It was, it isn't anymore.) * Murynal starts, then stays in her tiny "safe" section and glances around. (Fifteen meters is the closest land? (Yup) (Ooh crap.) 'Murynal!' (... does some math) Aughshithitshit! (*does some math* I can reach that with a running start.) * Murynal yells, "I can't jump across!" [A few Space Marines standing outside the door to the lounge look over at Mury. "That ain't good." "I never trust those automated systems." "She should be okay, she's way to hot to die that easily." "Actually I rather think that'll be the problem."] (I can't) (too) * Retrieving #jumpers modes... (*does some math* The square root of 729 is 27.) (Good to know0 * Intern slinks away into the lounge. (By like.. one meter >_<) (So, refresh me, Greg. What's it look like? How big is my island? I'm just surrounded by gushing lava or something?) (Circle with a radius of a meter, rubble outside of that. The rubble is rapidly being overflown by the lava. And yeah, gushing.][Meanwhile the cloud over Neisis's head keeps raining.] (The absolute farthest I can get is 14 meters. >.<) (unless Greg decieds to let me double boost Body or something.) * Murynal takes a few steps, then realizes the lava's coming in. She just sort of looks at it as she retreats back to the center. (But then I'm stuck on the island) * Neisis looks back over her shoulder as she pushes and gets rained on. "Thalan! You! Get her! I can't jump that far!" (I'll say each level of boost costs 10*(amount of boost)^2) (So 10, 40, 90 EP) * Thalan wheels around and runs straight at the lava, jumping just before hitting it and trying to land on the safe-zone. (Cumulative cost) (So fifty for a +2?) (Err, non-cumulative) [That'll take a body roll. Acrobatics (jumping) helps.] (This is within your max range, right. Hmm, still kinda big so I'll give a -2) (And what is your max range Thalan?) (20 meters.) * Grysar nods. (Levels in jumping help.) (Err.) (Ah, okay) (But that makes it. More if I get a bonus.) (Fix that nods.) [Thalan successfully lands on the island.] * Murynal looks to Thalan. "Can you carry me?" she asks in that extremely neutral voice. (If he can't I've just cut my crew in half. ;_;) * Thalan lands and looks across the lava. "Now what am I supposed to do? No, I'm pretty sure I can't. Not and jump across, anyways." [He actually landed on some of the rubble and quickly moves to the center part I presume, as the rubble is covered over completely in a few seconds.] (Pfft, I can jump back. :P) I was wondering that. I don't want you stuck here, too. * Space Marine looks over. "For the cause of beauty in the universe, want a grappling hook?" (Dude, can I even *hear* this guy? I don't even know where he is!) * Other Space Marine looks back. "I will never understand your battle cry." * Neisis looks at the Marine. "Yes, please now!" (He shouts. He's a space Marine. They're loud.) (Ooookay.) (His battle cry: "Want a grappling hook?") (He's by the lounge that you didn't quite make it to) (I'm fifteen meters or more away. ;P) (We get the hook. But no rope.) (I could have sworn Thalan packed some rope. >_<) (Personaly I was hoping for the Marine attached to the hook.) (Some DnD character YOU are.) (I do keep thinking Ben has a hooded lantern in SAB.) * Space Marine hustles over and kneels. "Be ready to grab it if my aim's off." (Nah, he's just got a red filtered flashlight.) (Actually, a regular flashlight and an electric lantern are in Ben's inventory. But no hooded lantern.) (But he'd so know that the red light would make it harder for other people to see it.) [This proves to be unnecessary. A hook shoots out from the marine's rifle and reaches the island easily although it doesn't have anything to snag on.] (Can I TK grab it?) (He should have some glowsticks. Haruko carries those in case she's in a field in an area with only electric lighting.) (Easily) (Ben has perfect night vision anyway. He wouldn't use a light if he didn't want it seen.) (But what if he wants to rave?) * Murynal holds a hand out, and right when the hook reaches the island but before it falls, it glows a faint blue and stops in mid-air. Very X-Men. (Ahh, I didn't know that.) (... You broke my head Greg.) Nice. (I try. ^_^) (Ben has matches. He can hold one of those up?) (So, given Thalan's incredible reflexes, he can assist Murynal's crossing.) * Neisis 's eye widen as she stares at the levetating rope. * Space Marine shorts. "Not what I meant, but that works." (Well, I'm not sure about that. I hope you have some good balance Murynal. :P) (How? I don't get... uh... are we on a slope or something?) [There are a few places to snare it if you so desire. You'd be walking at a slight incline up though.] (You hold the rope up and then walk across it.) (I can hold it just fine, I can jump across.) (Or you Thalan does that. Or you can attach at the far end, or you think of something else to do just to show up the Marine.) (Whatever you prefer. :P) (Neisis does not know these things.) * Murynal looks to Thalan. "Can you hold it up?" * Thalan grabs it with his claws/paws/hands. "Yeah, I got it." [Meanwhile Neisis is still rained on.] * Neisis is damp and worried! * Justine looks pensive. * Thalan is damp and calm! * Murynal nods. She grasps the rope, then... er, walks/slides over the lava. Hopefully. * Space Marine secures his position so the rope doesn't sway. * Thalan secures his position as best he can. (Okay, acrobatics (balance) body roll please. Feel free to boost.) (What's boosting take?) (Ten EP for a +1 to body) (10 Ep for one. 40 ep for two, 90 ep for three, etc.) (... Well, I'd kill myself if I went over two. ;P) (And if you buy at two level you don't also have to buy at the 1 level. Just 40. :P) (And I'd advise you not go over two then) (Right, so I'd be down to 4 EP.) (Oh well. Boost by two. It will be a very... out of it Mur.) (Yay!) (Sweet.) [Mury crosses with no trouble at all.] (Woo!) [It's quite elegent really. She could be a gymnist.] * Murynal makes it to the end, and though she crossed beautifully, looks about ready to collapse after her feet are again on firm ground. She's looking pale. [Meanwhile Thalan is on the shrinking island. Will he jump off? Will he become inexplicably distracted by catnip and not bother?] (It's especially inexplicable because there's none there.) (Yup!) (That's what you think) 'You look like you need a rest.' * Murynal looks to Justine and tries to smile. It's obviously forced. "I do. When it's over." (Fortunately Thalan doesn't have some of Jinx's defects. In that case there'd need to be a roll to not have random catnip. Actually, that's a little inexplicable even for Jinx) (Heh.) * Neisis runs back out to where the marine and Murnal are, leaving her cloud behind for a bit. "C'mon we need to. Thanks!" * Thalan runs and, lightly jumping a few times, tries executing a triple-jump across the lava flow. Oh. * Murynal looks to the marine that threw it. "Thank you." 'Yes. Thanks.' * Marine nods back. "Hey, in the end, Space Marines are good for two things. And saving beautiful women is one of them." 'What's the other?' (Saving beautiful men.) Beating the crap out of commissioned officers when they don't listen to our suggestion that some problems are best handled by nuking from space. * First marines nods. "In a nutshell." (*laughs*) * Neisis laughs. * Murynal smiles a little at that. * Justine frowns slightly. (Hey, Greg, am I going to make it or what?) [Thalan takes five damage with each footfall. But he reaches the shore just fine, if a little singed.] [The Marines look impressed.] * Murynal turns to look at Thalan. "Are you okay?" * Thalan lands, a little hunched. "Mostly. My boots won't be, though." What'd you do that for? How *else* was I supposed to make it across? In one jump like you got there in? * Marine recalls his grappling hook. "Wasn't room for a running start." Running start. * Neisis slaps her forehead. "Oh right. I forgot about that." * Intern comes back out. "And good news. I've put in my thumbscan so the badges will be ready in a few hours. The techies are trying to kill the critter that got in the photobooth. So until then there's icecream for the three." He glances at Mury. "I mean for the four of you!" * Murynal eyes the intern. * Intern slinks away faster. * Murynal eyes. EYE. (Faster than the previous time) * Neisis glares at the Intern. "That wasn't one of the manual jokes was it?" 'Can we get something to drink too?' * Thalan eyes the Intern. "You know, my claws do need a good sharpening." He idly picks at them. * Intern as he rushes away. "Sure. The bartender fled a while back. Drinks on the house." How about for the marines? (The marines are free too. Mury can have as many as she likes.) (Woo hoo!) (I'll share.) I don't think we have that much... ::He looks at Thalan:: Yeah, sure. (Drinks! Drinks! Drinks!) * Intern then disappears. (And since I'm the GM and thus can steal jokes.) Marines are always on the house. * First marine rolls his eyes. "You so stole that line." Shut up, maybe she hasn't heard it before. (And I'm tired, so we're wrapping here.) * Murynal just sorta wobbles once the intern's gone. * Neisis shakes her head and goes to look for the alleged drinks. But I do thank you for that. * Second Marine nods. (Not Mury tired admittedly) ( Who what? *collapses*) (So last comments) * Dicesuke was kicked by Grysar (Grysar ) (My last comment is don't wait so long between sessions that I forget what my char is like!) * Murynal heads after them. "Okay. Drinks, marines... marines? Maybe a place to lie down." (Ditto!) (Yes!) (I'm sorry, I'm afraid that won't make it in) * Thalan sighs and idly plays with his datapad. Mmm, jumpertech. :9 (This was just some mashed up bits of Ten and Tim and Keika.) [The Marines go to grab a couch for Mury from the staff lounge.] [And end!]
