[JUMPERS OMG] [They're in the lobby thing! There are passed out space marines all over the place! A few of them are in a corner, either drunkenly singing some sort of song or swearing about their officers. It's hard to tell. Maybe both.] (A song involving swearing about officers! I can make one up if you give me a second...) [We find our protagonists seated around a table. Murynal's shuffling cards. They're going to play blackjack! What adventures await them this adventure? Because Jumpers is an adventure. I'll stop now.] [Session Type Thing Start.] * Neisis sits at the table and gets rained on! She's watching Mury shuffle the cards too, but somehow that's not quite as important. * Murynal eyes the cloud. "Is it ever going to stop?" * Justine is nursing a new drink. It's transparent and bubbly. * Murynal finishes and slides the deck to her right to be cut. Who is... uh, who knows. If we're patient, probably not. * Neisis looks up. "It's kinda fun, but if it doesn't stop after we're done here I'll try to find that water elemental thing and apologize for chasing it, him, whatever off." I don't want to take it on the ship, is all. 'It'd get everything wet. That could damage stuff.' (Well, I'd assume that Thalan is across from Neisis, so either he or Neisis is to Mury's right and Justine is across from her) * Neisis blinks a the cards and then takes the top five cards and puts them at the bottom. "Right, and that'd be bad." * Neisis slides them back. * Murynal takes them back and brushes some water off of them. Very bad. * Justine nods. 'We don't have water elementals in my universe, so I don't know if it will go away on its own.' * Murynal deals everyone a card face down, then one face up for each of them. She's showing a four of what looks like leaves. Thalan has a jack of leaves, Justine a three of stars, and Neisis a queen of mushrooms. (Because I couldn't think of better suits, so you all can deal!) (Well. I'm dealing.) (But you know.) (Mushroom Mushroom Mushroom o/~) (Ha.) (BADGER.) * Thalan peeks at his face-down card. * Murynal looks at Thalan. (Ha.) * Murynal READS HIS MIND. * Murynal doesn't really, but she could be! * Thalan frowns and leaves it. "I'll stand." * Justine peeks at her face down card. 'Hit me!' * Neisis leans back to try and keep her cloud from getting the cards wet, it doesn't quite work, but at least she knows what her cards are now, and she can't help but grin a bit. "I keep these." We do. They're usually more of the self-serving non-talkative no problem with hurting you go back to their home area when done type, though. (Hm. Justine has levels in Card Game. Sadly, I can't think of any way they could be applied.) * Murynal punches Justine in the face! Actually, she flips the top card of the deck and tosses it to land in front of her. King of leaves. (A decent poker face?) (Murynal's people are known for being card sharks. NO IDEA WHY.) * Justine smiles. 'That puts me over.' She picks up her glass on almost the first try and takes a sip before setting it down again. I'm sorry. * Murynal turns to Neisis. Don't worry, the game's just starting. 'Good thing we aren't playing for money.' There's no point in doing that anyway. * Thalan nods. * Neisis thinks and then nods. "We're sharing just about everything anyway." (Jumpers IS COMUNISM!) (What do we call it when everyone gets an equal share?) (Com-mu-nism.) (XD) (In theory, Communism works. In theory, Greg runs Jumpers!) (The universe is so much clearer to me now.) (Ecks Dee.) (Therefore, Greg == Communism?) (Uh, yes.) * Thalan stretches, his tail sticking up as he does so. * Murynal keeps watching Neisis. * Justine hiccups. * Thalan looks at Neisis. * Neisis looks around the table. "So, Justine's out and we're standing, and we're not betting, so it's time to show the cards right?" Are you taking a hit or standing? Standing, I said that already didn't I? * Justine has another sip of her drink. Ironically, it's actually Sprite, and completely non-alcoholic. (Yes, but I missed it and just caught it in the scroll up. :P) (Hah, well, Mury's buzzing and the rest of us are just buzzed. ;P) * Murynal blinks. "So you did." She turns her own card over. Ten of stars. She draws another and puts it down. Three of leaves. "Done. Show me." (Thalan's not.) (Thalan's boring.) (And male.) * Thalan takes his card and flips the other over with it. 7 of leaves, jack of leaves. * Neisis turns over her eight of leaves. "Tada!" (c.c) (She's giddy, you were expecting good judgment calls?) 'Well, I'd have lost even if I didn't take the hit, so that's okay,' Justine says brightly. * Murynal smiles. "I guess so." She gathers the cards. "Congratulations, Neisis," she says before picking the deck up again and dealing. * Thalan snerks. I win the nothing! You win rain. Congratulations. 'Good job, Neisis,' Justine says (not sarcastically). * Murynal deals. Face up: two of leaves for Thalan, jack of flowers for Justine, six of stars for Neisis, and three of flowers for herself. * Neisis is still grinning as she checks what her other card is and doesn't bother to lean back this time. * Thalan peeks and motions with his face-down card, scraping the table. * Murynal snatches another card and slides it face up in front of Thalan. Jack of MUSHROOM. * Justine takes a peek at her other card. And this time around I'll be taking a hit. * Thalan puts his card down. "Stand." * Murynal nods. "Okay." She looks to Justine. 'Stand.' * Murynal turns to Neisis. "Hit?" Hit. * Murynal gives her a seven of MUSHROOM. (Badger?) (OH NOES! SNAKE!) (Ah, dumb web animation. Is there nothing it can't do?) (I haven't seen it cook for me.) * Neisis looks at the seven and her six and at her other card... "I've got nothing to lose so I'll take another one." * Murynal hands her another one. Ace of MUSHROOM! (You haven't SEEN it. But it can.) 'Nice.' (I'm afeared.) * Neisis blinks at it and then at the others cards. "And I'm going to push my luck for another one." * Murynal is a luck-pushing enabler, giving Neisis an eight of stars! Whups, that's the end of that. I'm over. Aww. * Thalan whistles. "I'll say." 'That's okay. You won last time.' So, what have the rest of you got? * Murynal flips her own card. Four of mushrooms. She grabs another one and turns it. Eight of flowers. Another: ace of flowers. And still another: queen of flowers. "They win." * Justine flips over her other card. Two jacks are what she's holding. Well, that beats me out. * Thalan flips his card over to reveal a 5 of stars. You win, Justine. Have a drink. * Murynal grabs the cards and sets them aside. Again! 'Okay.' Justine obeys. * Murynal laughs. * Justine hiccups again. 'This bubbly stuff is good.' What's it taste like? 'Lemon or lime, I think.' * Murynal deals: ten of flowers for Thalan, ace of stars for Justine, four of stars for Neisis, and king of MUSHROOM for herself. Do you know what it's called? I'd bet that Denal could make some for you after we get back! * Thalan sniffs. "Carbonated sugar water?" 'I guess so.' Justine drinks it again. 'It's kind of weak, but it tastes good.' * Murynal tilts her head, thinking about that. "Do you know which bottle you got it from?" * Thalan growls. "Stand." 'The green one.' ... There's more than one green one. * Justine looks at Thalan. 'Are you okay?' * Murynal blinks at Thalan. "It's just a card game." * Neisis looks over at the bar where there are lots of bottles. "That doesn't quite help." Then she looks at Mury. "And I'd like another card." Yeah, I'm fine. 'It was a weird shape and made of some kind of plastic,' Justine adds absently, still looking at Thalan. * Murynal picks up a card and tosses it to Neisis. Order? Bah. Seven of flowers. I'm going to learn from last time and stand on three cards. * Murynal looks to Justine. * Justine blinks at Thalan, then realises Mury is looking at her. 'Hit me.' * Murynal gives her a card! Five of flowers. 'I'll take another.' * Murynal gives! Ace of leaves. 'That's enough for me.' * Murynal nods. She flips her own face down card. Queen of leaves. "Twenty." * Neisis turns over the five of leaves. "Sixteen isn't enough." 'Same here.' * Murynal gets to her feet and walks over to the bar, looking for a green plastic bottle with bubbly liquid. Neither is eighteen. (She is never heard from again.) * Thalan flips his card. * Murynal idly steps over a space marine as she searches. * Neisis watches Mury go and then stands up and heads to the other end of the bar. "It'll be faster this way." 'It's really not a big deal,' Justine insists. But I want some. I won. But if it's good stuff we'll never have any more if we don't know what it is. And there's that too. 'But we have to keep playing. Thalan hasn't had a turn to win yet.' * Neisis holds up a green glass bottle full of something bubbly. "He can have his chance after we find Murynal's prize! Is this it?" 'I don't think so,' Justine says with just a bit of hesitation. Oh, I'll go deal. You can keep looking, Neisis. * Neisis nods and sets it aside. "That works for me." * Murynal goes back to her seat, sits, shifts a little in her chair, and gathers the cards before dealing again. * Murynal deals! Face up: queen of stars for Thalan, four of flowers for Justine, two of flowers for Neisis, and six of leaves for herself. (Greg gets back and finds out that Jumpers now has an involved plot arc revolving around finding a bottle of Sprite.) (hehehe) Hit me. * Murynal tosses Thalan a two of MUSHROOM. Alright, stand there. 'Hit me too.' * Thalan eyes the others. "You just had to get drunk, didn't you?" * Murynal gives Justine a ten of leaves. I didn't get drunk. I got tired. And then awake. And now I'm very awake. * Neisis comes back with a clear plastic bottle full of a bubbly green liquid. "This probably isn't it either." She checks her cards. 'Other way around,' Justine says with a laugh. 'Green bottle and clear liquid.' * Murynal grins. * Neisis nods. "Yeah, I know, I know. I also know I need another card." * Murynal gives Neisis a six of flowers. 'You don't like people getting drunk?' Justine asks Thalan. It gets... annoying. Oh, it's not so bad. It usually doesn't hurt anything. 'Sorry.' I'll stand, and it's not like we're going to spend all our time doing nothing but getting drunk and playing games. I don't think anyway. 'That would be nice, though.' It'd be kind of fun for a while. * Murynal flips her card! Nine of flowers. She draws another one: nine of MUSHROOM. "Bust." Busted. 'But we've got to do our duty,' Justine says seriously. Then she hiccups. Yes, and your duty right now is to tell me if you can beat an eighteen! * Murynal laughs. * Justine flips over her hole card. It's a nine. 'No, I'm busted.' * Thalan flips it. "Nope." (*drops her cards* Gah!) * Murynal gathers the cards, glances at the deck that's left, and starts to reshuffle. * Neisis turns over her lowly two. "I win another chance to find the right bottle!" She scurries back to the bar to go do just that. Go find it already. She is going to find it already. She'd better find it already. 'Do you want it too?' I think I'll pass. (Heh. Thalan's getting grouchy.) 'It's pretty watered down. I don't think it would get you drunk.' (He's a sore loser. :P) (Yup. :P) * Neisis discovers green liquid in a green bottle and non-bubbly in a green bottle, and then she looks in the fridge where the cold drinks are kept. "Ah~ha! I have found it! Now I just need two glasses... there we go." She walks triumphantly back to the table. 'Get three,' Justine calls. * Neisis sets the two glasses and the bottle down on the table and then goes back to the bar for the third glass. "Sure." * Murynal slides the deck to Justine to cut. * Justine reaches out and grabs the deck rather low in the pile, starts to lift, realizes her grip is uncertain, puts that down, raises her hand to near the top of the pile, and cuts off a much smaller bit from the top. * Murynal takes the deck back and puts the remainder of the previous deck on top. * Murynal deals, yo. * Neisis comes back with a third glass that's in a slightly different style than the first two, but looks like it should hold the same amount. She sets it next to them and then after a couple of false starts discovers that the top of the bottle unscrews in the opposite direction than the last bottle she opened. "Want me to top yours off Justine?" 'Sure!' * Murynal gives Thalan an ace of stars, Justine an ace of MUSHROOM, Neisis a queen of MUSHROOM, and herself a jack of leaves. She blinks a couple of times at that. * Thalan peeks at the card. "I'll stand." 'Hit me.' * Murynal gives Justine a ten of flowers. * Neisis lifts the bottle and walks to Justine's glass. She manages to pour mostly into it. * Neisis then heads back to her seat to see what her card is. * Neisis speaks as she pours into the other three glasses. "I'll stand." * Murynal flips her own card over. Two of stars. She draws one: six of flowers. "Eighteen." * Thalan flips his card, revealing a king. Of FLOWERS. "Twenty-one." * Justine grins at Thalan. 'See? Just a matter of time.' I think you won. * Neisis shows the ten of 'SHROOMS! "how'bout that." * Thalan shrugs and smirks. You win a drink! Oh, fine, get me a drink then. * Murynal laughs. 'You already have one.' * Neisis passes Murynal one of the glasses of fizzy. "To the winner." * Murynal holds up her glass. "Cheers." And she has a sip, then blinks, sniffing at it and looking at the bubbly liquid. 'To the winner,' Justine echoes, raising her glass. She has a bit of difficulty keeping it aloft, so it sinks and rises a bit as she holds it aloft in Thalan's honour. * Thalan shrugs and takes the glass, sipping its contents. * Neisis picks up one of the two remaining. "To the winner." She drinks and then sneazes. "Gaah." * Murynal giggles. I don't think there's any alcohol in this. 'Then why am I drunk?' Justine asks. You drank some alcohol earlier. Because you were already drunk. 'Oh, right.' Justine nods. * Murynal laughs. * Neisis rubs at her noes. "Wha they said." 'So it's okay for Thalan to drink, then.' * Murynal nods seriously. "Seems so." * Neisis takes a very small sip. "This is pretty good if you only go for a little bit at a time." 'It has bubbles.' I like it. It- yeah, it has bubbles. (Heh. It amuses me that Justine is their drink tester, then everyone follows up on the ones she likes.) * Thalan nods and sips some more. "So, are we going to play more?" * Murynal nods. "Sure." She sets her drink aside and goes back to dealing. * Neisis looks around. "Don't have anything else to do until we get our badges... unless you like dangertainment." For you maybe. * Murynal stops. "You're going to leave us?" * Neisis blinks. "What do you want to do?" 'What?' * Thalan shrugs. "I program." 'What sort of thing?' * Neisis glances around the bar. "You can do that here?" Of course I can. I have a datapad, after all. 'What are you programming?' Justine repeats. Oh yeah, I forgot about that. * Neisis nods at Justine. Maybe he's teaching Denal how to add. * Thalan shrugs. "Usually games. Making my old programs compatible to interface with the ones here." That too. 'Teaching him to add would be good.' And subtract. Maybe long division. * Neisis scratches her head and and then shakes the water off her hand. "Didn't we decide Denal was a she?" 'Oh.' * Murynal shrugs. Yeah? (Everyone in Jumpers is female... except Thalan.) (Yes.) (yes, that keeps happening to Zeg in OSTs) (Heh.) 'I didn't know you could do that.' 'I guess I really don't know a lot about what you can do, or Neisis, or Murynal.' * Thalan shrugs. "I thought it was pretty obvious." Ah... well... you want to talk about what we can do and play cards at the same time or just talk? * Murynal laughs. "Oh. Um, I feel things. Emotions, just from other people. And I can block out senses in an area. I think you know about the rest." * Murynal has the deck! She might be able to deal maybe, but she stopped for the time being. * Neisis shrugs. "I can fight and do a little bit of magic, but nothing fancy since I wouldn't need it on the ship and there wasn't much point in teaching me untill we got to the other end because I might not have made it." I'm a pilot and infiltration expert. And I tend to be... aware of my surroundings. Nothing else, really. Other than you shouldn't touch the tail. * Justine laughs. 'And I'm a fighter pilot, but that's not what I meant. There's more to us than our jobs.' [What happens to our heroes? Is the bubbly drink really alcoholic?
